Story-line of ‘Patel ki Punjabi Shadi’
Paresh Rawal as Hasmukh Patel is a Gujarati businessman living in a Gujju – dominated society in some part of Mumbai. His peaceful life turns into a mess when Guggi Tandon (Rishi Kapoor) enters his world as a neighbour. Both the families are poles apart in all aspects. Tondon, his father (Prem Chopra) and his son (Vir Das) are loud Punjabis, non-vegetarians, alcoholics and polar opposites of Hasmukh and family. Fun kicks in when Tondon’s (Rishi) son falls head over heels in love with Hasmukh’s daughter (Payal Ghosh). On the other hand, Payal too has a liking for Monty Tondon that increases the rivalry between the two families.

Eventually the two get married, and that is what you’ve got to watch out for!

Our Review
Some major gags await you with ‘Patel ki Punjabi Shadi’, majorly the result of the cultural clashes between the gujjus and the Punjabis. You may fetch an idea of the temperament of the film from “Business hum Gujaratiyon ke khoon me hain” and Punjabis’ teaching “Beta padosi ko shuru shuru me gaali nahi dete”. The entire film offers a bunch of one liners coming in from all sides.

Patel ki Punjabi Shadi will make you reminisce iconic times with dialogues like “Mera naam hai Prem, Prem Tandon.” Divya Seth who portrays the Punjabi mother is as weirdly funny as the male characters in the film. Payal Ghosh, the love interest of the Punjabi boy, a debutant in bollywood too has delivered a fine performance.

All in all, ‘Patel ki Punjabi Shadi’ is an ordinary comedy film with an extraordinary star cast. The script and the screenplay is not something we haven’t seen in the past.

We give it a 2/5 star rating!
